Best Everyday Cologne: Eternity for Men

Best Calvin Klein Colognes for Men Review

Top notes: mandarin, lavender, green botanicalsHeart notes: basil, geranium, sageBase notes: sandalwood, rosewood, amber

Released in 1989, Eternity for Men is the reflection of the classic man. The inspiration was the man is dedicated to traditional values such as health, family, work, and happiness.

The classic aesthetic of the bottle was designed by legendary perfume bottle designer, Pierre Dinand, the Eternity bottle is clear, polished and comes in a rectangular design. Rounded edges smooth off the design and give off a strong, sophisticated appeal.

The blend is a refreshing woodsy scent with a cool, crisp edge. It’s a classic scent that has inspired many variations such as Eternity Aqua, Eternity Summer and Eternity Intense. This fragrance is simple enough that it can go from work to a night out and has an ageless appeal ensures that it appeals to a diverse audience. While it’s not my favorite fragrance, it’s versatility is a major draw. It’s one I find myself packing for travel when I’m not quite sure what will come up and want a cologne that will fit into most occasions seamlessly.

Best for a Night Out: Euphoria for Men

Top notes: ginger pepper cocktail, raindrop accord, sudachi

Heart notes: black basil, sage and cedar leaves

Base notes: Amber, patchouli, Brazilian redwood and creamy suede

Euphoria: a feeling of intense excitement and happiness.  A fresh oriental fragrance, contemporary appeal and aromatic spices come together to form a spicy, sexy appeal.

This is a departure from the relatively clean-cut Eternity to a more addictive, masculine and sexy scent. This is definitely more romantic night out / clubbing than wear to work.

I’ve seen some complaints about the longevity, but I think if you’re out dancing or at the clubs, you’re going to be hard-pressed to find something that will last the entire night without some touch-ups. If you’re just out for a romantic dinner and some dancing afterwards, you’ll probably be fine.

Personally I’m getting a bit too old for late nights on the dance floor but I can imagine this is exactly what I would love loved in my mid-twenties.

Best Iconic Scent: Obsession for Men

Best Calvin Klein Colognes for Men Review

Top notes: mandarin and bergamot

Heart notes: lavender, myrrh, spices

Base notes: musk, sandalwood, patchouli

I feel like there’s so many well-known, landmark scents in the Calvin Klein collection, it’s easy to just find myself repeating “iconic” over and over. But I think for any guys who came of age in the late 80s, Obsession was THE fragrance.

Released in 1986, this scent has been entrancing people for generations. It has managed to capture the hearts of millions and has gained a loyal group of customers that will always come back for this intensely romantic oriental.

An award-winning fragrance created by Bob Slattery that has a female counterpart several flankers such as the also popular Obsession Night. With high ratings and rave reviews ever since its release, this cologne isn’t going anywhere.

The bottle was designed by Pierre Dinand the oval shape is smooth and sensuous, a perfect receptacle for this legendary fragrance. Even though this cologne was released over 30 years ago, its charm is still going strong.

Best for a Young Guy: CK One

Top notes: pineapple, mandarin orange, papaya, bergamot, cardamom, lemon

Heart notes: nutmeg, violet, orris roots, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, rose

Base notes: sandalwood, amber, musk, cedar, oakmoss

How could we talk about Calvin Klein fragrances without even mentioning CK One? Released in the nineties right in the age of the unisex revolution and grunge, this is arguably one of the popular fragrances in the world.

It doesn’t just belong to rock concerts or clubs, this fresh unisex fragrance is pure and contemporary, perfect for work or for a night on the town. It’s one of my favorite recommendations for young guys getting started with colognes as it has a fresh citrus smell that won’t overwhelm you.

Despite all the sexy, party marketing surrounding the scent — I feel like this is a great everyday cologne, especially for the summer months.

Calvin Klein has given us some of the most classic fragrances of all time. They have a wide range of fragrances for men and women that have managed to endure the fickle test of time. When buying a product, it is a wise choice to buy a tried and tested product that you know won’t just go out of fashion in a week or two. There is no such danger with Calvin Klein’s timeless fragrances.
