Review Policy
Last Updated: February 3, 2026
At Dapper Confidential, our mission is to curate the best in men’s fragrance, grooming, and lifestyle. To maintain the trust of our community, we adhere to a strict set of editorial standards regarding how we test, evaluate, and review products.
1. Editorial Integrity
Our first priority is our reader. We do not accept payment, “sponsored post” fees, or any form of bribery in exchange for a positive review. Our editorial team maintains full control over all content, and a brand’s advertising spend or relationship with us will never influence our critical assessment of a product.
2. Product Sourcing & PR Samples
We provide a mix of reviews based on:
- Direct Purchases: Products bought at retail for the purpose of testing.
- PR & Press Samples: We frequently receive products from brands or PR agencies for “consideration.”
Disclosure: Receiving a product for free does not guarantee a feature, nor does it guarantee a favorable review. If a product was provided as a press sample, we will clearly disclose this within the article.
3. The “Dapper” Standard of Testing
We believe that a true “dapper” lifestyle is built on quality that lasts. We don’t do “unboxing” reviews. Our testing process includes:
- Real-World Use: Fragrances are worn on skin in multiple environments (office, evening, outdoors). Grooming products are integrated into a daily routine for at least two weeks before a verdict is reached.
- Objective vs. Subjective: While we acknowledge that scent and style are subjective, we evaluate objective markers such as ingredient quality, craftsmanship, longevity, and value for money.
4. Affiliate Links & Commerce
To support our editorial staff and the operation of the Site, we utilize affiliate links. When you click a link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission.
- This does not change the price you pay.
- We only link to products we genuinely believe in or think our readers will find valuable.
5. Honesty Above All
If a product is exceptional, we will celebrate it. If it fails to meet the standard of the modern man, we will be honest about its shortcomings. We believe that critical feedback is more valuable to our readers—and the industry—than empty praise.
